Our History
A proud history in the McLaren Vale region. 

Owners, the Vandeleur family, have a proud history of bringing events to this beautiful region, they played a pivotal role in creating the McLaren Vale Bushing Festival, the first wine festival to really put McLaren Vale on the map as a food and wine destination, as well as the inaugural Oyster South Australia promotional event which ultimately evolved into the hugely successful “Sea & Vines Festival”.

Being part of the fabric of the region from 1958 the Vandeleurs successfully ran the Hotel McLaren. Then in 1981, seeing the need for high-quality accommodation for the region, the family single-handedly set about constructing and managing 44 x 4-star dwellings now known as the McLaren Vale Motel & Apartments

Now, following on from their parent’s influence, the next generation has inherited a community-minded spirit. This steadfast commitment to events that bring families, businesses and community together has led them to create the McLaren Vale Function Centre.

Our property, only 39 kilometres south of Adelaide, is set in beautiful gardens offering comfortable and quiet accommodation for your enjoyment.

McLaren Vale is recognised as one of Australia’s premium grape growing regions with many local wineries, including; Hardy’s, Tintara, d’Arenberg, Seaview, Chapel Hill, Fox Creek Wines, Wirra Wirra and SC Pannell.

Fleurieu Peninsula offers a tapestry of some of the best food, wine, wildlife, experiences and events in the State. Being a peninsula, water plays a major part in the recreational activities, with long sandy beaches, rugged cliff-scapes and sheltered coves offering a range of year-round activities that include fishing, surfing, scuba and snorkelling, sailing and swimming.

Designed by architect Chris Waites the new McLaren Vale Function Centre has the WOW factor that is perfect for your next event. Here you’ll find a beautifully designed space equipped for both relaxation and revelry.

The light and airy function space can cater for 200+ guests and offers the flexibility and facilities to meet the needs of your next event. The windows open to the garden at one end and to the Alfresco Plaza at the other, making it the ideal space for both productive work and pleasant relaxation.

For total convenience, the adjacent McLaren Vale Motel and Apartments can accommodate up to 80 guests with tastefully appointed facilities overlooking the swimming pool and boasting views to the gentle vine-covered slopes beyond.
